York Stripe Apple is a historic fruit cultivar documented by the U.S. Department of Agriculture between 1886 and 1942. 5 watercolour studies of it survive in the collection, with specimens recorded from Virginia, Winchester; Montana, Missoula, Missoula; Kansas, Riley, Manhattan, painted by Lower, Elsie E. b., Arnold, Mary Daisy, Newton, Amanda Almira. The paintings served as official botanical identification records before colour photography.
