Jonathan Apple

Jonathan arose in the 1820s in New York State. Small to medium and bright red, it has crisp, juicy flesh with a lively, spicy, sweet-tart flavour well suited to both fresh eating and cooking. Widely grown across the United States in the 19th century, it became a parent of numerous later apples.
